How a necklace can take you away from here...
Most of the jewelry I purchase has a special meaning for me. What that means, is every time I wear that necklace or set of earrings, I am reminded of the place I was when I bought it, or the experience I was having.
My ocean inspired necklaces can whisk you away to your favourite beach combing beach. Or perhaps they make you think of mermaid's tears and pirate stories.
Or this necklace, my Coral Life Ring, could have you wondering about how all the coral reefs of the world are doing and inspire you plan your next underwater adventure - whether that be scuba diving, or a visit to your local aquarium!
Weren't you just running off in your imagination? What a great little adventure!

Keep the seaside close with this necklace
Winter is the time when thoughts of vacationing somewhere sunny and warm start to invade the consciousness. Of course, this winter, vacationing is going to look a lot like staycationing. What that means is that we must vacation is our minds....
Are you ready? Ok, get your heat lamp, mix yourself an umbrella cocktail and throw on the Beach Boys "Kokomo" {Aruba, Jamaica....}. Deep breath in and listen - hear the waves? Good!
Now I have the perfect necklace to remind you of your little beach break. Barnacle I is just waiting to keep your memories of the seaside close. You can shop Barnacle 1 here.
If you want other ocean inspired mementos, I will be releasing new pieces on January 28th - Insiders ALWAYS shop first, so type your email in the space below to sign up on my list.
Barnacled seashell inspires art {jewelry}
I love the texture and design of barnacles on shells or rocks along the seashore. So I decided to have a little fun and design a necklace with barnacles!
This is a case of "art imitates life" - as I intended.
There is only one Barnacle necklace now, however the intention is to have a series of pieces, all barnacled up. These pieces, along with some other seashell surprises, will become part of a Shoreline collection.
If you want to be the first to shop when the new barnacle pieces drop, then sign up below. Insiders receive first access to new pieces and exclusive offers.
Steel {and bronze} barnacle shell
Barnacles on shells are a creative inspiration for me.
You can see I sketched and then created a shell with barnacles out of steel and bronze. This particular barnacle shell will be part of my upcoming shop update.
The shop update will be in the next few weeks. All upcoming pieces will be one of a kind, so if you want to scoop one up, then be sure you are on my email list.
Insiders on the list receive first dibs on new releases and access to exclusive offers.

A bronze {bead} crown?
Perhaps this shell is queen of the seashore?
Maybe I should adjust her crown just a little bit....
Oops! Well, it's still a great bracelet.

Discovering {bronze} treasure
I love to find treasure - to follow clues and uncover the secret. It almost doesn't matter what it is.
When I was little, my mother would write clues for me to find my birthday presents and I would have to go on a hunt around the house. One year she used this technique to give me a bicycle - my first two wheeler!
To this day, I love mysteries and exploring and discovering interesting things or facts.
What do you like to discover?
If you want to be the first to see what new treasures I reveal in my collections, then you must be signed up for my email list. Insiders always shop first. And I am working on new pieces now, that will be one of a kind or limited editions. Go ahead and enter your email in the space below.
Finding {bronze} treasure
When I am at the beach, I like to hunt for treasure from the sea.
It's exciting when I turn over a shell or a rock.
Because I never know what I am going to find!

Summertime and the {bronze} earrings are easy
The summer is heating up - lots of sunshine and high temperatures.
I want my summertime earrings to be an easy "go to".
My Captiva earrings are just that for me. Light and breezy. They are even named after a sun soaked island!
Psst - there will be some changes coming 'round here. No, I am not going anywhere, just switching things to keep it interesting! If you want to be first in on anything new, then be sure to sign up to my email list!
Oh Canada
Canada Day has me thinking about, well, Canada. {Funny how that works} Canada is bound on 3 sides by the sea. Only 2 of our provinces do not touch ocean at all.
I have lived only in BC and have visited several provinces. But it's the islands that draw me. I live now on Vancouver Island in a place where I can see the ocean everyday. It is the place I have lived the longest.
Prince Edward Island, on the opposite coast, is in some ways a world away. It is, however, where my grandmother's family is from and I have a connection with the place. I visited there in 2004, saw where my grandmother grew up and dipped my toes in the Atlantic Ocean.
Thus, on Canada Day, I realize my connection to the country of my birth and reflect on how that has seeped into my being.

Tropical colours and {bronze} necklaces
Soon, we will officially pass into summer. That got me thinking about tropical locations.
We have a temperate climate here, not too - not too cold. So we don't experience the hot, tropical heat.
What about some tropical colours instead? Red for tropical flowers, like orchids. Greens for all the foliage of a tropical land. Golds, a warm colour for your jewelry. Even though my pieces are bronze, they do have that warm gold colour.
Umbrella drink anyone?

Driftwood and {bronze} jewelry
When I was little, I found a piece of beaver chewed driftwood. I thought it looked an awful lot like Piglet, Winnie-the-Pooh's side kick (one of my favourite stories).
When I told my grandfather that the stick looked like Piglet and that I wanted him to put agates on it for Piglet's eyes, he had no idea who Piglet was! My 6 year old self was astonished - how could he not know?!!!!
So, we traded - he gave (driftwood) Piglet eyes and my mom and I read him the Winnie-the-Pooh stories.
Now, I am matching driftwood with my bronze jewelry - it helps keep the memories close. What do you have that keeps your memories close?

Unite for World Oceans Day
World Oceans Day is to put a spotlight on our blue planet. To celebrate and honour our oceans and work together to restore and conserve them.
Here, in the Salish Sea, June is also Orca Month, highlighting the habitat of the resident population of orcas.
I decided to celebrate with my orca and some sea treasures. This Ocean Curl pendant has a graceful, orca like curve, so it joined the party as well.
How will you honour the ocean?
