Peter Cottontail and {bronze} beads
Well looky who showed up in the studio this weekend.
Is it Peter Cottontail, hippity hoppin' around? Did he bring me any treats? Or is he hopping away down the bunny trail?
He could at least get off the beads and help me out with my collection release...
Happy Easter everyone!

She sells sea shells and {bronze} bracelets
Ok, so I am not actually selling these shells. But I am letting you peek at some of the fruits of my beach combing. You have seen these shells playing supporting roles in my jewelry shots.
I like this one because of the texture of the barnacles. Kinda looks like my coral reef beads, hey?!
This is a small moon snail. Look at that Fibonacci's spiral in the centre. Plus, I love the colour of the spiral, purply blue green (you could say oceany).
And this beauty is not from around here. It is a whelk shell from the gulf of Mexico.
Isn't it pretty??
PS: The bracelet will be part of my upcoming collection release. If you want to be first to shop the new collection, sign up to my email list and become an insider.
Bronze {coral reef} bead creations
As the days get warmer and longer during this time of upheaval, I really want to visit the beach.
I know, however, that it is likely the beach will have many bodies, even though I am sure they will be respectfully distant.
So I am making due with my beachy creations - a necklace and a bracelet - along with my beachy collections of shells and seaglass.

{Bronze bead} earrings galore
I know people who feel their outfit is not complete without earrings.
And they have earrings for every occasion.
I like earrings too, so I decided to provide a variety for my upcoming release.
There are dangles and drops and stacks - something for everyone!

Stacks of {bronze} beads
Focussed time on creating pieces with my bronze coral reef beads is yielding results.
These ones are stacks - vertical pendants in twos and threes.
And horizontal ones both as earrings and necklaces.

Upcoming designs for a spring release
I am loving my bronze beads and creating with gold chain.
Each design is spawning new ideas. It's creative heaven!
I am gearing up for a release of new designs, some of which you are seeing in first drafts here on the blog. The release will be in a few weeks.

Bronze beads and beach combing
The other day, I asked if it was beach combing weather yet.
Turns out, it is! This is "my" beach, the one closest to my home. It's called Cordova Bay and faces east. The island you can see in the distance is actually the US - San Juan Island. I love to walk and hang out on this beach, looking for treasure thrown ashore by the sea.
And look what I found?!!!! {OK, I made the beads. But I did find the clam shell on this beach!}.

Bronze beads and gold chain {earrings}
I have been hinting that I have been developing a new collection. With my hand carved bronze beads and gold filled chain.
I have been playing around and creating some potential designs. Like this single mini bead dangling on chain.
And this idea: two mini beads, one hanging on chain from the other one. The mini beads are light and airy; not too heavy for the ears.

Is it beach{combing} weather yet?
The other day I was talking about how spring seems to have arrived here on Vancouver Island. That made me want to head to the beach. Well actually, I love the beach at anytime.
But, I am not really a sit-on-the-beach-and-tan type. I would rather explore. I love the treasures you can find while beach combing. And not just the shells or glass or stones, but the patterns and colours too.
I find the sound of the waves meditative, the scenery interesting and the scent invigorating. Good for body and soul. It fills me up.

Bronze coral reef bead necklaces
As a designer of beads and jewelry, I get to play. A LOT!
I like to dump out my beads and move them around, lining them up in various ways, until something clicks.
That is what I have been doing lately - it's time to wind up for another collection release. I am working on multi-bead necklaces to launch in the coming weeks.

Perfect pairings: Pico Azores necklace and Minoan earrings
The Pico Azores necklace (large bead) and Minoan earrings (medium bead) are my current go to pairing of jewelry pieces.
The necklace is eye catching and can be worn for every day and for dress up. I talk about how I took this set on my California vacation in this post.
The earrings are dangly enough to catch the light, but classy too.
You could say these pieces are bold, yet understated. How about Elegantly Audacious?!

Sculptural jewelry in bronze and steel
We were learning to combine bronze and steel in jewelry pieces at the workshop I attended. The piece on the bottom is not quite finished yet - more on it another day.
The circular-ish piece (I shall call it a sponge) is made from steel and bronze, with holes carved in the bronze to match my coral reef beads. The steel is darkened to obtain the beautiful contrast in colours.
I think it goes fantastically with my beads!
