How to layer your necklaces
I have been playing around with layering my necklaces this year. When I started doing it, I was a bit hesitant - I am used to wearing one statement necklace, not a number of coordinating ones.
What I found out, is that it is quite easy to do this - you just do it! I like mine to all be visible, because they are all unique. But you can layer ones that are all the same length, but different chain types. Or you can layer just chains in with pendants. It's really up to you!
Try it; you might just like it!
PSST: My new Seven Seas collection of necklaces are designed to stand on their own OR be layered with your other favourites. They are being released very soon....so sign up below to be first in line to shop.
A necklace that is full of summer vibes
I love summer vibes - the warm sun on my shoulders.
A walk along the seaside or beach.
This necklace is perfect for invoking that summery feeling.

Find Leonajeanne Designs In Real Life
Now that we are able to get out and about again, you may be wondering where you can see my designs in galleries or at shows.
At this time, I am not planning to be in any shows this year. But you can still see my designs in real life! In the spring, I sent a number of my pieces from my Isles collection off to Kizmit Gift Gallery.
Kizmit is in Fort Langley, on the Lower Mainland and is a welcoming gallery gift shop. Try to visit if you are in the area!

Cascade oceany statement necklaces
As an artist, I never really know how my pieces will turn out until they are done.
These two statement necklaces came together after playing around with the oceany blue glass beads and my bronze pieces.
I really like how they turned out.
They will be available in my next release. Insiders get to shop first, so get on my list and join them! Sign up with your email below.
Pairing unique necklaces with everyday earrings
Last week, I talked about how to choose earrings to wear with one of a kind necklaces.
This week, I show you three statement necklaces, perfectly paired with some of my favourite earrings.
Try to guess which earrings I will pair with each necklace! Then stay tuned to see what I choose...

How to spot an {ocean} tiger...
I was looking at my Coral Life Ring III necklace today and noticed how the pattern on it is like a tiger. I get curious and since my jewelry is ocean themed, I went looking for tiger striped fish.
And what do you know, there are several - from the Tiger shark to tiger striped catfish to a fish called a Tiger Pleco.
So many things to learn by just being curious. What "tiger" will you spot today?

The Undersea World of...
"The sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever"
~Jacques Cousteau
I remember watching his show as a young girl in the late '60's and being fascinated.
That show and the Vancouver Aquarium (where I could see live orcas) hatched my love of the ocean and it's creatures. Little did I know then, that I would create jewelry in homage to the sea. The fascination continues...

Which new necklace is your favourite?
This handful of necklaces will be released later this week. FIRST to my Insiders on my email list. And later, on the weekend, to everyone.
All of these pieces are handcrafted by me in my Vancouver Island studio. They are all combinations of bronze and steel in one piece and inspired by oceany things, like coral and driftwood.
There is still time for YOU to get on my email list for this release on Thursday - just be sure you sign up below with your email by Wednesday at midnight. After that, you will have to wait for the next release to be first in line.
Keep the seaside close with this necklace
Winter is the time when thoughts of vacationing somewhere sunny and warm start to invade the consciousness. Of course, this winter, vacationing is going to look a lot like staycationing. What that means is that we must vacation is our minds....
Are you ready? Ok, get your heat lamp, mix yourself an umbrella cocktail and throw on the Beach Boys "Kokomo" {Aruba, Jamaica....}. Deep breath in and listen - hear the waves? Good!
Now I have the perfect necklace to remind you of your little beach break. Barnacle I is just waiting to keep your memories of the seaside close. You can shop Barnacle 1 here.
If you want other ocean inspired mementos, I will be releasing new pieces on January 28th - Insiders ALWAYS shop first, so type your email in the space below to sign up on my list.
Two coral inspired necklaces coming soon!
These two necklaces are like peas in a shell... Similar, yet not exactly the same.
Both are combined bronze and steel pieces and both are at medallion length.
They are, however, one of a kind and that means you get to choose the one that attracts you the most!
These beauties will be released before the end of January. If you want to be first in line to shop, then sign up and become an Insider! {enter your email below}
One necklace worn two ways
One of the things the last year has taught us is that we must be versatile and adapt to our situation.
Well, my Driftwood I necklace can do just that! It can be worn as a long single chain, which is perfect over winter sweaters and high-necked shirts.
Or, you can double up the chain for a layered necklace look.
Driftwood I is available in my shop.

Longing for the here and now
I find myself longing for vacation, for the beach (a nice warm beach).
Or maybe I just want to be anywhere-but-here-and-now-in-2020.
Or maybe, just maybe, I need to focus on the here and now. To pay attention. Like Mary Oliver says:
Listen - are you breathing just a little,
and calling it a life?
