Driftwood, {necklaces} and Poohsticks
Poohsticks, a game invented by Winnie-the-Pooh (my favourite childhood story), is about racing sticks {driftwood} under a bridge by dropping them into the current, then rushing to the other side to see who's stick comes out first.

I was thinking how my driftwood inspired necklace would fare in a game like that....
It would probably sink; not such a good racing feature!

On the other hand, it really wins as a long, dangly necklace to dress up your day.

How do you choose a {bronze} necklace?
When I have purchased art jewelry in the past, it is mostly because the piece speaks to me some how.

It could be that it reflects a feeling I have - something fun and frivolous or maybe it bolsters my confidence or sense of self. Perhaps it reminds me of a place or person or a particular trip.

And usually, when I see something I am drawn to, I purchase it right away - especially the one of a kind pieces that may not be there in the future!

Bronze {necklace} Inspired by loofah???
Inspiration can come from the most interesting places...I don't think I ever considered being inspired by my shower loofah sponge before!

But really, loofah sponges are sea creatures. And once I remembered that, the sponge took on some really interesting design qualities.
This necklace is Loofah I.

Eventually, Loofah I will be joined by other one of a kind pieces in a series and will become part of my Undersea Garden collection. For now, Loofah I is part of my latest release.

Beware the Kelpie {wearing bronze jewellery}
A kelpie is a mythical Scottish (or Celtic depending on your source) water horse.

And look, I found one in my back yard, sporting my Ballenas necklace!

Do you think it will stay still long enough for me to pet it?

Beach or Forest {jewelry}
I love the beach, whether it be at the seaside or by a lake. Beaches and the shoreline are such interesting places that I could spend all day exploring and discovering.

But I also love the forest! That is where the faeries and gnomes live, right!?! This makes it the perfect place for my imagination.

I know, what about a beach by a forest?! Perfect.....

Wear {bronze} jewelry - for you!
I am just coming off a week of stay-cation. As I was hanging around home, doing not too much of anything (COVID lethargy anyone??), I got to wondering why I wasn't really wearing my jewelry. Was this some hang over from jewelry being a "dress up" thing?
Or was I just not bothering with it? And if that was so, why not? Why WASN'T I wearing jewelry around home? Don't I deserve to wear my jewelry whenever I feel like it???
YES! I can wear my jewelry, JUST FOR ME, when no one is watching.
If you want to be first to scoop up your very own piece of jewelry to wear while no one is watching, you can join my email list below. Become an Insider and shop first with all new releases.

Make mine a {grande} bronze bead, please!
I am working on some new things.
These grande beads are 3 inches long (an inch longer than my large beads). I have been playing with single grande bead designs - as a bar necklace.
And as a large and long drop necklace.
If you want to make sure you scoop one of these up when they are released in July, then sign up below with your email and become an Insider!

More tropical colours that go with {bronze} jewelry
I have been highlighting the hot tropical colours from a Bali Batik - reds and greens and gold.
But I have also found a couple more tropical colour palettes. First up, some oranges, pinks and yellows.
Then some sea greens and blues, with pops of accent colours. It all depends on your definition of tropical!
Best of all, my Cayo Coco necklace goes with ALL the tropical colours!

How to choose a top to wear with a classic art {jewelry} necklace
My Ballenas necklace is in the classic style and I wanted to show it with various tops. First, a V-neck in a shade of grey. I like this necklace against the skin. The colour of the top doesn't necessarily highlight the bronze, but it also doesn't detract from it.
Next up is the royal blue t-shirt like top. Now I love the bronze against this colour of shirt. BUT the neckline is a bit too casual for this classic style of necklace.
Lastly, we have the round neck shirt. I like this combination of neckline and colour the best for the Ballenas. The bronze stands out against the fabric and the necklace hangs nicely. The best way to figure this all out is to try and see. You will know when it feels right.

World Bicycle Day {and bronze jewelry}
Today is World Bicycle Day. The UN declared World Bicycle day to celebrate the bicycle as "a simple, affordable, reliable, clean and environmentally fit sustainable means of transportation, fostering environmental stewardship and health".
I realize I should have been out riding today. Instead I have pretty pictures of a colourful card I received last year on my birthday. I do love to bike, though.
As for the jewelry part - well I mostly don't wear jewelry when riding, except when the occasion calls for it (the jewelry I mean). When I do, I like something light to wear and easy to care for, but still has a bit of pizzaz. That is why I like my Lucia necklace, because it checks all those boxes (the one pictured is a small bead, one inch).

How to style an art {jewelry} necklace
I got some new tops recently, to add to my spring wardrobe.
I decided to show you how my Dominica necklace looks with the differing colours and necklines.
Which one do you like best?

It's a whale of a {bronze} necklace
The Ballenas necklace is named after an island group off the coast of Vancouver Island, relatively close to home.
Ballenas is Spanish for whale; and true enough, orcas can be sighted around the islands.
Ballenas, the necklace, as I described in this post, is classy, yet organic. It's {wait for it} a whale of a necklace!
