I do it...

YES, I wear black in the summer.  

Black tops and black, steel jewelry.  I just make sure there is a pop of colour - in this case, sea green on my steel ocean current pendant.

As you are probably starting to notice, I like shells (and the ocean...oh and beaches).  So when I saw this book, Neptune's Garden, at our local book sale a couple of years ago, I had to have it.  

The author illustrates her own shell collection - and the beautiful drawings make the book, in my opinion. 

Shells have such a graceful shape and appear to be so fragile.  And yet, they are strong, durable houses for their animal dwellers.

The other morning when I got to work, I noticed something different about my earrings.

Yes, I put them on backwards today!  I usually wear them with the tip of the curl pointing in, like I showed in this profile post.

The house where I was pet sitting has this newly painted red door.

Well, I also like to pair it with Sea Curl patterned metal earrings.  This is a bit dressier and the bronze base for the pattern matches the bronze on the Ocean Current pendant.  I still like to wear this combo for everyday use, though.

I love the beach.  Not in the lay-on-your-towel-and-bake way, but in the explore-and-see-what-treasures-you-find way.  Scouring the shores for interesting bits of glass and pieces of shell is relaxing and peaceful for me.  With the sound of waves in the background and the sun warming me up, it is a joy to be out there.  

Recently, I moved within walking distance (ok a bit of a hike) to this beach.  I love how I feel when I come down here.  One day, I will own a beach side cottage adorned with my own spin on coastal decor.    

On my last excursion, I found these clamshells - one full half and another with all the barnacles still clinging to it.  Strong and fragile all at the same time.  Interesting texture and lovely curves. 

These finds and the ocean itself inspire my designs.

I am pet sitting this week.  You can see that Groovy was happy to see me.  

I like to wear my bronze pendant every day; it goes with everything and can move from casual pet sitting day time to dress up evening without changing.  Very versatile.

For everyday wear casual wear, I like to pair pieces made from the same metal.  In this case, bronze is on display - my structural, hand-carved Ocean Current pendant with Shell earrings.  Bronze is the perfect durable metal and with it's gold like lustre, it matches any outfit.

There is a little square near my day job that is opened up in the summer.  It has tables and umbrellas and is away from the street traffic.  A quiet place to have coffee, each lunch or hang for awhile.  

The chalkboard is ever changing and today it matched me!

Today, it was time...

My hair was getting too long.  

My stylist, Crystal, says that it developing more and more curl.  That is why she cuts it just a bit different each and every time.
