Books, beads and more little libraries
In this time of physical distancing, our public libraries are closed. In between playing with my beads to make pretty things, I read A LOT.
I have a small space, so purchasing new books is not practical for me. I do go to our large annual book sale (proceeds go to literacy programs), but that is not happening this spring as it usually would.
That is why the little free libraries in my neighbourhood are so fantastic. I visited this one the other day and traded three books.
And look there is one specifically filled with children's books across the street! These are a great way for me to not only get outside, but also indulge in reading. Plus, it's like that box of chocolates; I never know what books I will come across.

Perfect pairings: Pico Azores necklace and Minoan earrings
The Pico Azores necklace (large bead) and Minoan earrings (medium bead) are my current go to pairing of jewelry pieces.
The necklace is eye catching and can be worn for every day and for dress up. I talk about how I took this set on my California vacation in this post.
The earrings are dangly enough to catch the light, but classy too.
You could say these pieces are bold, yet understated. How about Elegantly Audacious?!

The jewelry you will wear to the places you will go
On my recent trip to California to take a workshop from my mentor, I booked an extra day to look around Berkeley. It just so happened that was the day it poured - not showered, not rained, it poured! Like some one was pouring a bucket of water over us.
I did venture out a bit, first to the Berkeley Art Museum and Film Archive. Then for a walk once the sun came out in late afternoon to see this fascinating yard full of sculpture
The artist makes all of his creations with trash that has washed up on the beach. He has also influenced the neighbourhood as I saw sculpture sprouting up along the block.
The next day was travel home day. I had some flight delays. Above is me early on in the day, perky in my Minoan earrings and Pico Azores necklace.
And then here I am after landing back in Canada, only to find out that I had a further delay. The jewelry held up just fine! (Me, not so much).

California Dreamin'
A few weeks ago, I travelled to California, to the studio of my jewelry teacher / mentor. I go every year, to brush up on my technique and learn new skills.
California welcomed me with a lovely sunset. And of course I was wearing some of my new coral reef bead pieces, a large Pico Azores necklace and large Minoan earrings.

Carved bronze bead pendant, style II
The other day, I was talking about playing around with my new hand carved bronze beads. And I showed you the first design with one bead.
Now, here is the second style of one bead necklaces - a vertical bead.
This is the small (approximately 1 inch) size of bead. These styles are great for everyday wear and you can pick whichever suits you the best.

Why I am in love with bronze jewelry right now
I am loving bronze right now.
It's warm golden glow goes with almost anything. It's easy to care for and easy to clean - just a wipe with a soft jewelry cloth is all it takes.
And so versatile: Dress it up or wear it everyday.
It has become my go to jewelry.

How to style jewelry with a patterned sweater
Today I am out and about. I wanted to wear my copper enamel pendant with this sweater because the colours match almost exactly - coppery and greens and a touch of sea blue.
But you can see that the piece disappears when worn on top of the sweater.
So I tried my carved bronze pendant instead. You can see it so much better against the green and patterns!
I think this is the best for both the pendant and the sweater.

Everyday bronze bangles
Today was a great day for geocaching.
And leaf crunching.
I paired up my bronze bangle and bronze cuff just to see how they would fit together. Then I went out geocaching, tea drinking and journal writing.
What a lovely day!

Everyday Pendant and Pet Kisses
I am pet sitting this week. You can see that Groovy was happy to see me.
I like to wear my bronze pendant every day; it goes with everything and can move from casual pet sitting day time to dress up evening without changing. Very versatile.
