Longing for the here and now
I find myself longing for vacation, for the beach (a nice warm beach).
Or maybe I just want to be anywhere-but-here-and-now-in-2020.
Or maybe, just maybe, I need to focus on the here and now. To pay attention. Like Mary Oliver says:
Listen - are you breathing just a little,
and calling it a life?

Driftwood, {necklaces} and Poohsticks
Poohsticks, a game invented by Winnie-the-Pooh (my favourite childhood story), is about racing sticks {driftwood} under a bridge by dropping them into the current, then rushing to the other side to see who's stick comes out first.
I was thinking how my driftwood inspired necklace would fare in a game like that....
It would probably sink; not such a good racing feature!
On the other hand, it really wins as a long, dangly necklace to dress up your day.

Barnacled seashell inspires art {jewelry}
I love the texture and design of barnacles on shells or rocks along the seashore. So I decided to have a little fun and design a necklace with barnacles!
This is a case of "art imitates life" - as I intended.
There is only one Barnacle necklace now, however the intention is to have a series of pieces, all barnacled up. These pieces, along with some other seashell surprises, will become part of a Shoreline collection.
If you want to be the first to shop when the new barnacle pieces drop, then sign up below. Insiders receive first access to new pieces and exclusive offers.
How do you choose a {bronze} necklace?
When I have purchased art jewelry in the past, it is mostly because the piece speaks to me some how.
It could be that it reflects a feeling I have - something fun and frivolous or maybe it bolsters my confidence or sense of self. Perhaps it reminds me of a place or person or a particular trip.
And usually, when I see something I am drawn to, I purchase it right away - especially the one of a kind pieces that may not be there in the future!

Bronze {necklace} Inspired by loofah???
Inspiration can come from the most interesting places...I don't think I ever considered being inspired by my shower loofah sponge before!
But really, loofah sponges are sea creatures. And once I remembered that, the sponge took on some really interesting design qualities.
This necklace is Loofah I.
Eventually, Loofah I will be joined by other one of a kind pieces in a series and will become part of my Undersea Garden collection. For now, Loofah I is part of my latest release.

Coral frags and under{sea} garden
This is another take on coral frags - carved bronze with steel embedded.
The coral frag pieces will ultimately become part of a collection I am calling Undersea Garden. The collection will build over time, with one of a kind pieces.
This one will be in my upcoming shop update. And if you want to be first in line to shop for it, then sign up to my email list below. Insiders on the list always have first dibs at new pieces and have the scoop on exclusive offers.
What are you waiting for??!!??
Bronze and {steel} coral frags?
Coral frags are really coral fragments, cultured and used in saltwater aquariums. Coral frags are fascinating and beautiful, much like a real coral reef.
I am inspired by the shapes and textures in the coral and for my coral frag pieces, I am using bronze and steel. In this one, it is patterned on one side.
I am very excited to be updating my shop very soon with my new pieces! If you want to be first in line to shop them, then sign up for my email list below. Insiders always have first dibs and receive exclusive offers.
Steel {and bronze} barnacle shell
Barnacles on shells are a creative inspiration for me.
You can see I sketched and then created a shell with barnacles out of steel and bronze. This particular barnacle shell will be part of my upcoming shop update.
The shop update will be in the next few weeks. All upcoming pieces will be one of a kind, so if you want to scoop one up, then be sure you are on my email list.
Insiders on the list receive first dibs on new releases and access to exclusive offers.

A bronze {bead} crown?
Perhaps this shell is queen of the seashore?
Maybe I should adjust her crown just a little bit....
Oops! Well, it's still a great bracelet.

Beware the Kelpie {wearing bronze jewellery}
A kelpie is a mythical Scottish (or Celtic depending on your source) water horse.
And look, I found one in my back yard, sporting my Ballenas necklace!
Do you think it will stay still long enough for me to pet it?

Beach or Forest {jewelry}
I love the beach, whether it be at the seaside or by a lake. Beaches and the shoreline are such interesting places that I could spend all day exploring and discovering.
But I also love the forest! That is where the faeries and gnomes live, right!?! This makes it the perfect place for my imagination.
I know, what about a beach by a forest?! Perfect.....
Another perfect thing? Well that's when you get to shop new pieces first because you have signed up for my email list. Just do it!
