This is 59
It was my birthday recently. I turned 59, entering my 6th decade of trips around the sun.
Birthdays are an important touchstone - a time to take stock of where I am and where I may be headed.
Spending time making discoveries, both on the beach and in my journal is the way I take stock. How do you mark your journeys around the sun?

Ocean inspired treasure has arrived
What's inside the shells?
The shells contain ingredients for creativity, inspired by oceany things like the colour of water and seashells and barnacles and coral and the importance of oceans for our ecosystems.
Mix all that together, and you get the latest pieces in my Coastal Collection!
My email list of Insiders gets first dibs when I release collections - are you on it??? Sign up below to get oceany goodness right in your inbox.
Love of beach treasure
As a child, I loved combing through the rocks and pebbles on the beach at our lake property. I could sit for hours, agate hunting.
I was in awe of the agates, a small treasure just waiting to be discovered right there on the beach. I kept a huge bag of agates that had to go everywhere with me.
Is it any wonder that I now seek the rock tumbled sea glass that is so very agate-like?

Bronze barnacle beauties
Why is it I am drawn to barnacles? Aren't they just sharp, crusty things you step on at the beach?
Barnacles inspire me because of their existence - I love the patterns they make, very organic, yet still a pattern.
But most of all, they remind me of the swish of the waves and wandering along the beach seeking treasure.

What is magical about a driftwood necklace?
I found this quote about driftwood and it stuck with me - driftwood to me is timeless and a symbol of going with the flow.
"I imagined your stick, washing in the waves for hundreds of years, turning to driftwood, smooth and hard like stone. I imagined a little girl finding it on a beach so many years later. Saving it on her shelf, where she put the things that made her feel like the world was magical." - Author: Ava Dellaira
Driftwood as a talisman for the magic of the world! I love it.

If you go down to the beach today...
When you go down to the beach, keep your eyes open for the elusive Martinique necklace...
Is it hiding in the rocks?
No, nope with the sea glass. How about over there with the driftwood?
Yup, there it is!
You just never know what treasure you will discover if you keep your eyes open.

Beach treasure is everywhere
Beach treasure is everywhere you look. At the water's edge...
Tucked into a tide pool in the rock crevasses...
And hanging around on driftwood...
The discovery of the treasure is half the fun. Or maybe that is really most of the fun!

3 necklaces in my Shoreline Collection for beach lovers
My Shoreline Collection is really made for beach lovers of all kinds.
There are seashells to adorn the mermaids out there, like Barnacle I.
Or shapely driftwood-like pendants that bring to mind windswept beach panoramas (like we have here on Vancouver Island).
Right now it is a small collection that will grow over time. If you want to be first to shop new Shoreline Collection additions, then sign up for my email list below. Insiders always get the scoop!
Bronze {bracelets} beachcombing
That title is right up there with "She sells seashells". But it's what I did recently when the weather was hot last weekend.
I like to look for the treasure on the beach. Sometimes all I find is parts of shells.
This time, when I was just about at the end, I found a small mermaid tear of green sea glass. Makes it all worthwhile for me.

She sells sea shells and {bronze} bracelets
Ok, so I am not actually selling these shells. But I am letting you peek at some of the fruits of my beach combing. You have seen these shells playing supporting roles in my jewelry shots.
I like this one because of the texture of the barnacles. Kinda looks like my coral reef beads, hey?!
This is a small moon snail. Look at that Fibonacci's spiral in the centre. Plus, I love the colour of the spiral, purply blue green (you could say oceany).
And this beauty is not from around here. It is a whelk shell from the gulf of Mexico.
Isn't it pretty??
