California Dreamin'
A few weeks ago, I travelled to California, to the studio of my jewelry teacher / mentor. I go every year, to brush up on my technique and learn new skills.
California welcomed me with a lovely sunset. And of course I was wearing some of my new coral reef bead pieces, a large Pico Azores necklace and large Minoan earrings.

Is it holiday season already?
No sooner is Halloween over and the Christmas Craft shows start to appear. I walked over to one at the local church to get in the mood.
However we are still having beautiful fall weather. Even though we had one of the coldest Octobers on record, the sun is shining and it does not feel like we are headed into winter. At least not today.
Even the show was decked out in fall colours.

Ocean {jewelry} treasure
I find the ocean to be a soothing and forceful muse. The colours, the creatures, the shapes, the imagery, the lessons.
Be strong enough to swim against the tide.

Cycling, hotel and bangles
As I mentioned, I was on vacation, in the Greater Vancouver area.
We did "Bike the Night" - a family cycling awareness event where everyone dresses up and puts lights on their bikes. Streets were closed as 5000 cyclists rode the route.
We also cycled around the seawall and then stopped here at Canada Place, close to where the Olympic Flame was during the Vancouver 2010 Olympics.
While in Vancouver, we stayed at the Iconic Sylvia Hotel.
And yes, it was sometimes grey and rainy, but we didn't let that stop the fun.
My bangle came along for the ride.

Yes, you CAN wear jewelry on casual days!
Today is a bit grey for August, when we usually have bright sunshine and blue ocean. Often, you can see Mt. Baker. Not today. Instead we have grey on grey. You can still see the islands out in the Haro straight, though.
I am also in grey - just casual, comfy walking around the neighbourhood gear.
Why not spice up the grey a bit? So I threw on my oceany copper pendant.
Yes, you most certainly can wear jewelry on casual day.

Bronze Earrings and rainy day
I am working hard in the studio during August so I can launch my first collection in September. These bronze earrings are waiting for their finishing.
Because I am in the studio, I don't mind that it is raining today. Plus we could use it to dampen the potential for forest fires, which thankfully we do not see many here on Vancouver Island.
