How to layer your necklaces
I have been playing around with layering my necklaces this year. When I started doing it, I was a bit hesitant - I am used to wearing one statement necklace, not a number of coordinating ones.
What I found out, is that it is quite easy to do this - you just do it! I like mine to all be visible, because they are all unique. But you can layer ones that are all the same length, but different chain types. Or you can layer just chains in with pendants. It's really up to you!
Try it; you might just like it!
PSST: My new Seven Seas collection of necklaces are designed to stand on their own OR be layered with your other favourites. They are being released very soon....so sign up below to be first in line to shop.
This is 59
It was my birthday recently. I turned 59, entering my 6th decade of trips around the sun.
Birthdays are an important touchstone - a time to take stock of where I am and where I may be headed.
Spending time making discoveries, both on the beach and in my journal is the way I take stock. How do you mark your journeys around the sun?

The Journey
~ Mary Oliver
One day you finally knew |
what you had to do, and began, |
though the voices around you |
kept shouting |
their bad advice -- |
though the whole house |
began to tremble |
and you felt the old tug |
at your ankles. |
"Mend my life!" |
each voice cried. |
But you didn't stop. |
You knew what you had to do, |
though the wind pried |
with its stiff fingers |
at the very foundations, |
though their melancholy |
was terrible. |
It was already late |
enough, and a wild night, |
and the road full of fallen |
branches and stones. |
But little by little, |
as you left their voice behind, |
the stars began to burn |
through the sheets of clouds, |
and there was a new voice |
which you slowly |
recognized as your own, |
that kept you company |
as you strode deeper and deeper |
into the world, |
determined to do |
the only thing you could do -- |
determined to save |
the only life that you could save. |

Love of beach treasure
As a child, I loved combing through the rocks and pebbles on the beach at our lake property. I could sit for hours, agate hunting.
I was in awe of the agates, a small treasure just waiting to be discovered right there on the beach. I kept a huge bag of agates that had to go everywhere with me.
Is it any wonder that I now seek the rock tumbled sea glass that is so very agate-like?

Beach treasure is everywhere
Beach treasure is everywhere you look. At the water's edge...
Tucked into a tide pool in the rock crevasses...
And hanging around on driftwood...
The discovery of the treasure is half the fun. Or maybe that is really most of the fun!
