Bronze hand carved bead earrings and shells
I am still developing new designs with these bronze hand carved beads that I am calling coral reef.
These asymmetrical earrings catch the light and the attention of admirers.
My new coral reef art beads are light and fun to wear.

How to style art jewelry with holiday outfits - part I
It's holiday season again. Time to pull out the classic and fancy clothes.
But how to accessorize with your art jewelry?
With basic, classic black for the holidays, you can highlight your favourite artisan jewelry pieces.
First a shorter, larger copper enamel pendant that stands out against the black and provides a pop of colour.
Or perhaps a longer pendant on a chain. Here is a handcrafted bronze shell from my personal collection. On a solid, dark colour like black you could even go longer and have the pendant be the accent for the whole outfit.
Or, you can let the outfit and jewelry speak for themselves, yet off-set each other. Like I did here with my new bronze coral reef beaded necklace and earrings.
The necklace sits on the skin instead of needing the back drop of the black to stand out.
How will you be Audaciously Elegant this season?

Bronze coral reef bead necklace
In the design process, it is important to try things on a real human.
Here I am considering what length these bronze carved bead necklaces should be. First at approximately 18 inches, which is usually close to the collar bone.
Or what about shorter, more of a choker style?
For this size of bead, I like how the shorter necklace hangs.

How many pairs of glasses does it take to design jewelry?
I was again playing around with my new bronze beads to create some designs when I noticed that I have not one...
But two...wait not two...
THREE - three pairs of glasses - my everyday pair, my "task specific" pair (for working on the computer at the day job) and my magnifiers to make the small work easier!
Good thing I don't have to wear them all at the same time...

Coral reef bead necklaces
Playing some more with potential new designs.
This time, taking the hand carved bronze beads (I am calling them coral reef beads) and putting them in necklaces.
And putting various accents with them - in this case a handmade sand dollar in bronze.
Or for contrast, in blackened steel.

Playing around with new earring designs
I have been working on some new ways to bring my sculptural bronze pieces to you.
I have been creating these coral like beads, carving them out in various sizes.
And arranging them in potential earring designs, on their own or with steel or bronze sea shell accents.
I am planning to release new pieces in the new year. But for now, I will keep playing and exploring new designs.

Oceany copper enamel jewelry
I have been neglecting my copper jewelry and it was feeling a bit left out.
Copper takes enamel wonderfully and the sea greens and blues look great on it.
You can be boldly beachy with any of these copper pieces.

She Sells Sea Shells
According to Wikipedia, a beachcomber is "interested in the (mostly natural) objects that the sea casts up... looking for and finding various curiosities that have washed in with the tide..."
I think of beach combing as a type of treasure hunt.
My recent treasure hunt has turned up these metal shells in the churning tide that is my workbench. They have sparked my design ideas...

Why I am in love with bronze jewelry right now
I am loving bronze right now.
It's warm golden glow goes with almost anything. It's easy to care for and easy to clean - just a wipe with a soft jewelry cloth is all it takes.
And so versatile: Dress it up or wear it everyday.
It has become my go to jewelry.

Earrings for beach dreaming
As the days are shortening and getting colder, I am using my earrings to channel that oceany, beachy, vacation-y vibe.
My carved bronze earrings that remind me of coral.
Or the enamelled copper ones - all sea blue and green.
Maybe if you slip them on your ears, you can hear the ocean?!?
You can find them in my store.

Lest We Forget
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
Lieutenant-Colonel John McCrae
To me the poem and the phrase "Lest We Forget" have always meant not to forget the ravages of war. I have relatives, including my father (larger picture above) who served in WW II. My great uncle Vinal died in France in WW I. With war, we sacrifice - our loved ones, our planet, our peace.
Perhaps we should Remember.
